Since we are in the technology age, and although I love paper maps, there are many applications and sites I use for my travels. You may have heard a lot of them, but you may also encounter a new application that will make your life easier. You can reach the web sites by clicking the links or pictures below. Take a look at the applications and sites I use the most because sharing is caring 🙂
1. Skyscanner
Skyscanner is one of the platforms I use a lot both as a mobile application and as a website. You choose the dates you want and the place you want to go and it sorts out the best results for you. If you do not have a definite date, you can look for the cheapest tickets. There are many web sites like Skyscanner actually. You can also check out websites like cheapflights.com, cheapoair.com, expedia.com.
2. Booking
Although we can not use it in Turkey anymore, it is still one of my favorite sites. I especially use the map feature a lot. What I look for in a hotel is that it should be as close as possible to the center but as cheap as possible. It’s also nice to see what percentage of the hotels are full. If you can change the date of your stay, you may go to a time when the city is less crowded. I usually make reservations so that if there is any change in the plan, I can cancel it without any payment. So in short, booking.com is love.
3. Airbnb
If you are looking for an alternative to the hotels, I’d recommend airbnb.com. You can rent a room, a bed or an entire house from Airbnb. In this way you can find rooms / houses that are more affordable than the hotels. Be careful when searching, you may have just kept a room by mistake instead of the whole house. I’m saying this because been there done that. 😀 The price of Airbnb depends on what you are looking for. You can also lease a house or a room and earn money. To join, click on the link below and get €21 discount on your first trip 🙂

4. Inspirock
A website and application I’ve just started to use to plan my next trip. You enter where you want to go and the dates, and it says where you should go visit every hour every day you are there. Seriously it is a life-saver, let’s see how it works.
5. Citymapper
It is another life-saving app. You can also use the website. I don’t know what I would do without this app on my France trip. You can find all kinds of public transportation on this app. Subway maps, bus stops, timetables… They put everything together for you. Even if you don’t know anything about the city you are in, you can go around very easily. So what would you want more? 🙂
6. Timeset
It is a very fun app. You can make a bucketlist of places you want to go to, or you can save bucketlists of other people. There might be a place you want to go and you do not know how to get there, but there is always someone who knows. This app brings these people together and culture exchange happens. 🙂 You can also save places and inspire people.
7. Citymaps2go
You are in a new city and you do not know what to do. Here’s the application you’re looking for. You can plan your trip and even share it with your friends. But my favorite feature of this app is that you can use maps even when you don’t have internet. Thanks to Gps, you can easily find your way.
8. Maps.me
Another example of offline maps. You can not only find big cities but also small towns and villages with this application. The whole world is at your fingertips. Enjoy finding your way without searching for the wi-fi.
